8 day movement - Grande Sonniere (Blind Man Strike) Strike on Coiled Gongs
The clock strikes once on the quarter hour, then counts the hours; twice on the half hour, then counts the hours; three times on the three-quarter hour, then counts the hours; and finally it strikes four times on the hour, then counts the hour. The two gongs have different sounds and hence, this clock is sometimes referred to as a "blind man's clock since you can discern the difference in the quarter strike and the hour strike.
